toward
sustainability
I’ll
define sustainability as living today without degrading
tomorrow. We are using more of everything the planet has
or can ever replace. We have to rethink and change the
way we live. That includes the landscapes we wrap around
our homes and places of work and play. As a designer,
I take my client’s intention and make it a reality.
As I balance my client’s needs and desires with
all the elements that play into the evolution of a good
design, I‘m always looking for a better way, a greener
way to conceive and build the landscape. It’s only
through sustainable landscapes can we morally and ethically
bridge our connection back to the natural world without
shortchanging our future. At the core of sustainability
is a fundamental value that says Human and the Ecosystem
health are one and the same. We are all part of the larger
natural world, and by conducting our human endeavors accordingly;
we protect ourselves, our children and the children of
all species now and for the indefinite future.
I
believe in the power of Design to create change. Designers
create the future one project, one decision at a time.
